2019 has been full of more roller coasters than I expected. Lots of highs, lows and complete direction changes. It would be easy for me to sit here and think about how terrible the year has gone, to focus on all of the negative, especially the happenings of these last few months. Instead, I choose to see all of the great things that God has done for me this past year. So let me tell you about my favorite parts. Here, in no particular order, are my top 3 from 2019!

The first, 2019 brought me a new career. Change can be hard especially when it is unexpected. My career was not fulfilling me in the least. Work had become so toxic that I dreaded every single moment that I had to be there. It effected all aspects of my life: my friends, family, hobbies, responsibilities, and health. In the spring, I was given an opportunity when I needed it most. The change was terrifying. I would be leaving everything that I knew and a career that I had worked so hard at. That decision was one of the best that I made. My new work did not come easy, learning a new career was tough. But it was so worth it, the new job brought so many opportunities. I finally had the chance to occasionally travel! I have been at my new company for nearly 8 months. I am starting to feel more confident and comfortable with the work that I am doing and in my abilities. For once, I can see a long and steady future with a company that values me.

The French Quarter, New Orleans

Number 2 for 2019, is definitely the travel opportunities that I have had this year. I was able to go to Disney World twice! A girls trip in the spring and then again in the fall with my family. The trips very different from each other but both were absolutely magical. Work took me to the wilderness of Wisconsin, New Orleans, and New York City. These trips were exhausting and busy but I was able to take in a few sites and enjoy the local culture while I was there. Being back in New Orleans was by far my favorite. I loved getting to see those old familiar places. During the summer, I had the chance to go back down to Florida and attend the Health Coach Conference. What an incredible experience! After the conference was over, my sister came down to meet me. We spent the rest of the week relaxing in the sun. It was by far one of the best times that we have had together, just the two of us. There were more adventures sprinkled in there: 2 trips to Louisville, a few trips to Cincinnati, and to Kentucky.

Number 3 for 2019, is for the addition of an unexpected family member. Heidi, is the dog that I was never supposed to have. She is a “hand-me-down” that has completely stole my heart. I did not really want to have another dog. Four just seems like so many for one person. When Heidi’s old parents contacted me about re-homing their Great Dane, I just knew that she was going to complete my little family. This dog has been so much work but has so much love to offer. I cannot imagine life without her now.

These are just a few of the big events of my life this past year. There are so many more that I have to be grateful for. I have learned how to dream again. I started this blog! I ran 3 half marathons this year. I strengthened my relationship with God. I do not know how 2020 will go, but I have to believe that God has amazing things planned for this girl.

If I have learned nothing else this year, its that no matter how tough things may seem God is still there. You can still find joy in the journey even when it is hard. Here’s to an awesome New Year! 2020 is looking very bright.
